Feeding Therapy
Medically-based difficulties
Hannah's Place utilizes a multi-disciplinary program for assessing and treating children with feeding difficulties. Our treatment interventions integrate posture, sensory, motor, behavioral/learning, oral motor, medical and nutritional factors to evaluate and manage children with feeding/growth concerns. Parent education and participation is an integral part of our therapy. We never forget that a kid is a kid by ensuring feeding therapy is fun, safe, and inviting.
Feeding treatment is provided at Hannah’s Place to address a variety of feeding and swallowing difficulties in children. We do not always know what causes feeding difficulties in children; however, we are able to identify two areas of overall difficulty:

Behavioral/Sensory difficulties
food aversions
very picky eater
failure to thrive
aversive meal time behaviors
gagging/avoidance of textures
Children in feeding treatment at Hannah’s Place receive individualized and goal-directed intervention. Each child’s treatment is most often conducted by either a speech-language pathologist or occupational therapist. When children’s nutritional needs are met, more success is seen in physical capabilities, attention, memory, and behavior.
